Le Route de la Soie

These recent 4 years, Sebastian Gunawan as a talented well-known designer from Indonesia regularly launches his collection to welcome Chinese Lunar New Year. This year, 2013, Sebastian revealed the theme of his new collection, "La Route de la Soie". This collection was inspired by cheongsam, traditional chinese women dress, also inspired by the meet of western and eastern pattern. We can call this collection as the "modern-couture" cheongsam. It brings china atmosphere by its high-collar, gold tone, red tone, fit-to-body dress, and traditional chinese pattern (such as koi pattern). Sebastian has brilliantly mixed this traditional cheongsam with modern trend, like peplum cut,  color blocking trend, and other fabric (Japan's silk obi Nishijin-Ori, lace, shantung, etc)

This is one of great masterpiece in fashion, and this might be the future trend, remembering Asia's rapid development nowadays gives higher international appreciation to Asian culture. I'm looking forward to see Sebastian Gunawan's next collection.
